Staff sergeant Barry Donadio first joined the military on December 29th 1987 in the New York Army National Guard.

He served as an Infantry recon Scout in the 42nd Infantry Division at the Patchogue Armory in New York.

By June of 1990, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve and served as a Military Policeman in the 340th Military Police in Jamaica Queens, New York.

Later, he served in the 340th and 423rd Military Police in Hempstead, New York. He sometimes performed law enforcement duties at Ft. Totten in Queens, New York.

On February 24th 1994, he was a Air National Guard member of the 106th Rescue Wing Security Police at the Gabreski Airbase in Westhampton Beach, New York. He was also employed full time as an Airbase Security Officer with Peace Officer powers through the state of New York.

In 1995, he obtained a full-time active duty position (AGR) for the duration of his military service. He conducted law enforcement operations and provided protection to U.S. Air Force priority resources.

In 1997, he was selected as "Airman of the Year" at the 106th Rescue Wing. From 1997 to 2002, Mr. Donadio was appointed a Security Police Investigator.

He was responsible for completing criminal and incident investigations. From 1997 to 2000, he served as an Asst. Team Leader of the Emergency Services Team (EST). This was a highly armed and trained Police Tactical Team.

On April 12th 2000, he became the Team Leader of the team. He assumed this role until leaving military service on March 18th 2002 to pursue a career at the White House in the U.S. Secret Service.

Donadio and the Emergency Services Team operated in support of the Space Shuttle Recovery Team, U.S. Presidential visits and deployed on September 11, 2001 to protect americas homeland.

After the 9/11 attacks, he was the Team Leader of a contingency of Security Police Officers that were designated to protect Air Force Alert Aircraft.

He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for his war zone deployment while serving in Operation Northern Watch.

On a separate occasion he received "The Air Force Commendation Medal" for his response and effort to save a downed pilot.
